About

Valentina Casali is an Italian multidisciplinary letterer and type designer.

She practices sign-painting, letter carving and other typographic applied arts and would be happy to help you design your new sign or tombstone.

Together with Marco Goran Romano, she co-founded her studio Sunday Büro, which designs editorial illustrations, custom lettering, type and infographics for ADs and books.

Since August 2023 you can find her name among the C-A-S-T Foundry members, where she’s currently drawing typefaces and learning about licensing. Pritzious is the first typeface she ever released.

She teaches lettering at ABA Macerata. Her love for learning methods led to design a new tool to teach calligraphy and hand-writing in a different way, researching propaedeutics to help students develop their own style.

She is a graduate of Type@Cooper Extended Program class 2021.
She also graduated with greatest honour at the Expert Type Design Class at the Plantin Instituut voor Typografie (Plantin Institute of Typography) in Antwerp.
She was Teaching Assistant in the Principle of Typeface Design workshop with Troy Leinster at Type@Cooper for the ‘21 fall edition.

Since she cannot get her hands to rest, you may buy Tiger Mochi textiles: a small brand she started as a side project, which produces punch needle home accessories, with a slow and non-competitive philosophy.

She's a board member of Lettering da, a lettering association, which promotes and supports Italian urban typographic heritage.

In 2023 she briefly served in the TDC Advisory Board.
